KENSINGTON APARTMENT

This striking apartment was in need of total renovation and modernization in order to create the clients' vision of a London base for their young family.

The property has been stripped of all traces of the previous occupants, while still retaining many of the original decorative elements. Structural alterations have been limited to the widening of openings and the removal of a wall in the kitchen, but a number of shower rooms were inserted into the existing layout creating a comfortable space for guests. Sound proofing was required to the floor and has been installed throughout, as has underfloor heating and limed oak.

The joinery includes a floating banquette seat in the living room finished with grey leather and a unit in the main hall which cleverly combines the storage of IT and communication equipment with decorative niches. The apartment is intended to be a playground for children and has cubby holes and places to climb hidden in many of the rooms.
