With this project the clients wished to build a one storey extension onto an under-utilised part of their garden, this would house a dining area and bring natural light into the ground floor. It would also create a link between the existing living rooms and kitchen, previously accessed by a narrow corridor.

The extension is timber construction and utilises the existing garden wall. It is clad in Corten steel as is the gate and adjacent window reveals. The garden is accessed by a large Schuco aluminum door. Light is brought into the space through two large roof lights and high level horizontal glazing. The floor of the extension is in solid ash and a new island unit in the kitchen is in matching timber with a stainless steel worktop. The small existing WC has been converted into a tiled wet room, the existing door has been made shower proof with chrome yellow coloured Formica.
