The client's brief here was to renovate a neglected Hackney terrace house, creating a modern family home providing communal spaces for family life in the lower ground and private spaces in the upper floors.

The structure of the top floor and roof have been opened up to make way for a master bedroom suite. Fitted joinery was made by onsite carpenters which have been finished with sprayed doors. Space has been made for an en-suite shower room, while a free standing bath can be found in the bedroom.

The layout of the first floor and ground floor have generally been left untouched but have been updated and redecorated to create comfortable bedrooms and living space. The basement and rear of the ground floor have been overhauled to create a double height extension clad in black aluminum. Extensive glazing and sliding doors have created a striking, bright kitchen finished with Dinesen Douglas Fir flooring.
